FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTIC WRECK SALVAGE, L.L.C. ANNOUNCES ALL ABOARD,
AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR HISTORY STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

MILLSTONE, NJ – Atlantic Wreck Salvage, LLC (“AWSâ€), a salvage firm located in Millstone, NJ, today announced the launch of an educational program called All Aboard. All Aboard offers free live and pre-recorded presentations about world maritime history to high school and middle school history teachers and their students. The goal is to use the discovery and exploration of shipwrecks as a backdrop for larger historical discussions.

AWS, owners and operators of Dive Vessel Tenacious, locate and salvage shipwrecks in the North Atlantic. The team’s most celebrated discoveries are the WWII German U-boat U-550, the WWI U-53 casualty West Point, and the American submarine R8. Most of the shipwrecks AWS explores are WWI and WWII casualties of maritime battles in the Atlantic.

AWS will begin by offering select programs listed on its new website, www.dvtenacious.com. Teachers can access the list of available presentations by visiting the site. Over time, AWS will move to an on-demand system where teachers around the world can register and access content on a self-serve basis. Presentations will be a variety of lengths to fit class schedules. All content will be offered free of charge. Subjects include but are not limited to the Civil War Battle of Hampton Roads, America on the Precipice of WWI, WWI U-boat warfare in the North Atlantic, the role of Merchant Mariners in WWII, and WWII’s Battle of the Atlantic.

“Shipwrecks are so much more than hunks of metal and wood. They are windows through which we can see our history,†said Jennifer Sellitti, Creator and Director of the All Aboard program. “Kids of all ages get excited when they see divers exploring sunken ships. All Aboard’s mission is to channel that excitement into an opportunity to educate.â€

Working in conjunction with professionals is vital to this effort. AWS has assembled an advisory board that includes history teachers and school administrators, who will assist in developing content that integrates easily into standard history curricula. The board also includes divers based in Japan, England, Ireland, and elsewhere around the globe. Partnership with such a wide network of industry professionals enables AWS to provide broader historical perspective, access far flung wrecks, and deliver content about events that occurred both in the United States and around the world.

The project began with pilot presentations this winter at select schools, including Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines, Florida. “I am always looking for new ways to bring history to life in my classroom†said All Aboard Advisory Board Member Eduardo Martinez, History Teacher at Somerset Academy. “The presentations delivered by AWS not only captivated students with underwater photos and video but contained rich historical detail about America on the precipice of World War I. I am honored to be a member of the advisory board that will help this innovative program grow.†Mr. Martinez was recently voted Teacher of the Year at his school in part because of his creativity in bringing maritime history into the classroom.

Teachers interested in participating in the program may do so by visiting www.dvtenacious.com and clicking on the “Education†tab. Educators and wreck divers with an interest in contributing content or joining the advisory board are also encouraged to reach out.
